Chicken in Soy Sauce with Vegetables

(Printer-friendly version)
  • 1 kilograms chicken parts
  • 0.5 cups regular soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey or dates syrup or sweet soy sauce
  • 250 grams fresh mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cups corn
  • sprouts
  • handful of fresh parsley leaves
  • black pepper

In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce and honey or dates syrup. Season the sauce with some black pepper. Soak the chicken parts in the soy sauce mixture.

{side_tip} To get better results, take out the large bones.

After an hour, heat some oil in a frying pan. Fry the marinaded chicken parts until brown, but be careful not to burn them, since the sugar in the marinade tends to burn quickly. Don't toss the marinade. When done, keep the chicken parts somewhere warm.
Chop the onions and peel the mushrooms. Heat oil in a frying pan, again. Fry the onion until golden, add the mushrooms and fry for a few minutes. If you feel like it, you can add some cinnamon and ginger powder to get a better flavor. After a few minutes, add corn and mix everything well. Put the chicken parts on top, add the marinade and half a cup of water. Cover the pan and cook until the chicken is done. When almost done, add chopped parsley leaves and sprouts. Serve hot!
